Why Does Ps4 Have To Download Game First

I know that the PSN and updates via the internet are a key part of PS4 but if you were to buy a PS4 (and a game) and plug it in without setting up a PSN account (or anything) can you still play games, the old fashion way I guess
Games come with patches at launch, such as BAK which has a big update, can you receive the updates without signing up to PSN, so it just comes through the internet (or something ) or must you be signed up in order to update the games and therefor have to be signed up to PSN if you wish to play games (as games can be riddled with problems if not fixed)
Thanks.

- #2You must have a PSN account to be able to download updates. But the game could be playable without it.
Can I ask where the problem is ? Why would you not want to create an account ? - #3I was just wandering due to a few things I've heard recently (I haven't got a PS4 just a PS3) with games coming out (like BAK) that require immediate updates (and increasingly so) its now not really possible to get a console plug it in and play a game, we have to be linked to the internet for things to work, game machines have become dependent on that, must be a pain for people in far out locations that struggle with internet connection or even without.
Anyway it was just something I was thinking about, thanks for the reply. - #4Oh while I have this thread can I also ask if your signed up to the PSN with your ps3 (like I am) when you get a ps4 can it just pick that account up, transfer it over or something, or do you have to create a new one and enter all your details and set everything up.
Sorry probably asking some simple question, my understanding of technology is average....at best - #5Oh while I have this thread can I also ask if your signed up to the PSN with your ps3 (like I am) when you get a ps4 can it just pick that account up, transfer it over or something, or do you have to create a new one and enter all your details and set everything up.

Ask anything you want, that's why we're here.
You can use the same account you use on PS3. Just enter your username and password on the PS4 and you're set. You can then download updates, buy games and DLC if you want. - #6I'm guessing you do not have PS+ with your PS3 account? If you do, you should have been 'buying' the free monthly PS4 games so that when you get your PS4 you'll have loads of games ready to go.
I do not have a PS4 yet, but I have been religiously adding the couple of PS4 games each month to my account.
The urge is finally starting to bite me though. I never got a PS4 because I had 3 years of backlogged PS3 games via PS+ that I knew I would never play if I got a 4, and to be honest there was no game out on the PS4 that I actually wanted. That seems to be about to change! - #7You are better off having a PSN account. Any account you set up on PS3 will carry over to PS4.
If you have issues with having a PSN account (for whatever reason) all you really need to do is set up a new Gmail account and sign up to the PSN with that, you wont need any credit card details and you don't have to buy anything. But having a PSN account will keep all the games you have installed on your PS4 up to date. - #8Ask anything you want, that's why we're here.

That's great so you don't have to set anything up it simply carries over.
So is the ps4 quite easy to get going (especially I you have a ps3) as the PSN is already set to go, there's probably updates to download but then you can go straight into playing a game, and then later explore all the other features that are of interest. - #9That's great so you don't have to set anything up it simply carries over.

Yeah it's easy to get going. If you didn't have a PSN account you'd have to enter all your details but seen as you have one, you just enter your username and password and you're off.
You will have a lot of software update now to download. Best do them first. Then any games you put in will have patches to download. Normally you can do any online parts of games until you install the patches but you should be able to get cracking on the single player parts.
And there's loads more things you can play around with after that, like video saving and editing, shareplaying etc. - #10Yeah it's easy to get going. If I was to get a PS4 would that effect the PS3, there's two PS3 in my house one belonging to me.
Edit - also regarding the username and password, the password would be the same as the one asked when signing in to the psn but is the username the same id e-mail address thing that they ask at the same time or is it another username, which if so I can't remember what the hell my username is doh - #11If I was to get a PS4 would that effect the PS3, there's two PS3 in my house one belonging to me.

The PS4 uses a different system to the PS3, in that with the PS3, you can use your account on 2 consoles. The PS4 uses a primary / secondary account feature. But in answer to your question, using your login on the PS4 won't affect the PS3s. I'm signed in on 1 PS4, 1 PS Vita and 2 PS3s using the one account.
Yes, your account username is just your email address, and you know your password. - #12Thanks for the replies, Its good t know that its simple to set up.
- #13Do let it do the system updates. Unless you have limits to your download capacity go into settings and let it update on standby.
As Yuffie said I have had my vita, ps4 and ps3 all logged in at once with no problems. I can play any disc based game with the hub off except for a day when the destiny beta launched and it all went wrong!
Nov 17, 2013 With the ps4 do you have to download the game if you buy the disc? Will the ps4 just run the game or do you have to do a long download/install? Does the install take long and do you have to download data of the disc as on ps4 games such as killzone shadowfall it says it. Why does the PS4 have a feature to download updates in rest mode? PlayStation 4. Every single time I have heard about a new patch for a game I play, I turn my.

Why Does Ps4 Have To Download Game First Game
I've seen a lot of posts on message boards, tweets etc.. of people saying when they buy a game digitally or start to pre-load a game it downloads a small file then they try to play the game but, it will only let them play one level or a small part of the game. Then they complain that it downloaded the game file but, wont let them play the whole game. Here is a better explanation how Play as you download works.
When you start to download a game the download status will show you downloading the whole game but, after a few seconds it calculates how much you need to download to be able to start playing the first level or the first few minutes of the game. So say the total file size is 50GB then it switches to say 8GB, it will continue to download the rest of the game in the background. You can view the status of the download by highlighting the game from the main menu on the PS4 then press options then press information> Download status.
I found a video to show how it works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-odBzsNfpc
In the realistic books of The Walking Dead, there came a point where I abandoned the establishment. The Walking Dead Season 7 completely achieves the point where I became weary of the books as Negan is available in full drive and the sixteen-scene seventh season requires some investment showing what life under the thumb of the Saviors resembles and after that moves into Rick Grimes gradually attempting to manufacture a coalition against him. That point was the point at which the storyline moved from the Walker danger to the enormous human risk in the Story Of Survival Horror. I have been by and large attached to the network show The Walking Dead, so I was somewhat careful when the show began indicating to the nearness of Negan close-by in The Walking Dead Season 6. That volume was the point at which the books ended up plainly fixated on the Alexandria Safe Zone going under the heel of Negan and the ruthless strategies he used to keep the general population there - and in other, neighboring, groups in line.

Hope that help some people to better understand how it works.
