The central idea if this movie is about the personal life of four mentally dislodged people. Their there whereabouts and problem are screened with the colours of humour.
Most people who experience mental health problems recover fully, or are able to live with and manage them, especially if they get help early on.But even though so many people are affected, there is a strong social stigma attached to mental ill health, and people with mental health problems can experience discrimination in all aspects of their lives.Many people’s problems are made worse by the stigma and discrimination they experience from society, but also from families, friends and employers.
Nearly nine out of ten people with mental health problems say that stigma and discrimination have a negative effect on their lives.This is because society in general has stereotyped views about mental illness and how it affects people. Many people believe that people with mental ill health are violent and dangerous, when in fact they are more at risk of being attacked or harming themselves than harming other people.Stigma and discrimination can also worsen someone’s mental health problems, and delay or impede their getting help and treatment, and their recovery.
Social isolation, poor housing, unemployment and poverty are all linked to mental ill health. So stigma and discrimination can trap people in a cycle of illness. Anyway in this movie the picture is totaly absured. Here the four so called patients gets good care and consideration from society. The central story is, Krishnankutty, Benny, Keshavan & Venu who are the metal patients in Kaakkanad mental hospital, reads a news about the visit of Bollywood actor Amithabh Bachan in cochin city.
They tactically skipps of the security Kuttappan. And takes a passenger bus to Cochin. But they's read the news paper which was one month old. They plan to go back in the morning and slept nearby road side. But when they wake up, they realized that Venu was missing. So they decided to to look for him and to go back with along with him. This is the starting thread of the movie.
Meanwhile Benny met his old crush Mini. On the other hand Balan, who is Venu's big brother goes to hospital and threatens the authorities. They send Kuttappan along with him to find Venu. Finally they found Venu in a music troop before his brother. They decides to stay in the city by doing job. Since Keshavan was an ex-military he got a job as a secuirty staff. Benny was a pinter so he took small wall paintings. Krishnankutty joined with his friend's work shop of automobiles. They took a house for rental and started to live more peacefull. You may find many funny incidents throughout, like Benny's amnesia, funny incidents of Keshu, Krishnankutty & venu etc.
One day two unepected and uninvited guests came to their house Sundaranpilla & Girish Puri, they mentioned themselves as tele-serial producer and Director, but actually they were criminals. One was Thorappan Vasu and the other was Irumb Abdullah and silent partner Bruno. Their intention was to rob the bank nearby by digging a tunnel from their car shed. So they put up a tele-serial production. They tactically rid off them from house and being sent to practice dance and martial arts. Mean while they started the 'Job'. On the other hand Mini's father not interested with her affiar with Benny. So send some criminals to finish him off.

Mookilla Rajyathu is a Malayalam movie released in 1991 directed by the duo Ashokan-Thaha featuring Mukesh, Thilakan, Jagathy and Siddique in the lead roles. This comedy flick revolves around four patients who escape a mental asylum, their antics and the mischief they get up to while trying to start life in a 'normal' society, which, as the title appears to insinuate, often fares worse in terms of sanity. The characters are loosely derived from the 1989 comedy film The Dream Team. A key sub-plot in the movie is similar to the Sherlock Holmes story The Red-Headed League.

The film starts by displaying an antic of Keshavan (Thilakan) who is an inmate of the Kakkanad Mental Hospital. Two other inmates are Benny (Mukesh) and Krishnankutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), along with the female inmate played by Philomena. The late Hakeem Rawther too plays as an inmate in a cameo role. By profession Benny is an artist, Krishnankutty is an auto-mechanic and Keshavan had retired from military service. The trio chance to come across a newspaper report that the Hindi film star Amitabh Bachchan is visiting Ernakulam City for film shooting, which is near the place they stay. They are soon joined by Venu (Siddique), acting as the brother of Balan (N. L. Balakrishnan) who takes him to the mental hospital. Venu is a good singer but suffers from a compulsive obsession to singing. All the four share a passion for Amitabh Bachchan.

Driven by a desire to see Amitabh Bachchan the four fans manage to escape from the mental hospital that night by outsmarting the cell warden Ameen (Mala Aravindan). They reach Ernakulam city in a bus, but are disappointed to learn that Amitabh Bachchan had gone back after the film shooting which took place a month ago, and they had in fact seen an old newspaper report. They decide not to return to the mental hospital but start living in the city by finding suitable employments. The film portrays their many eccentric pranks after their arrival in the city (even though ironically they display normal and even intelligent behavior too much of the time). The ostracization and stigmatization faced by mental patients in the society too is brought to fore in a couple of emotional scenes. The protagonist Benny meets his former college mate and lover Leena (Vinaya Prasad) too there imparting glamour to the plot. Paravoor Bharathan plays as father of Leena, who is unwilling to give his daughter in marriage to Benny, and even unsuccessfully hires a goon Bheem Singh (Krishnan Kutty Nair) to get rid of him.

The story enters a new phase with the arrival of two shady characters Vasu (Kuthiravattom Pappu) and Abdullah (Rajan P Dev) under the pseudo names Sundaran Pillai and Gireesh Puri, in the disguise of a TV serial producer and director respectively. Their intention is to rob a bank near to the home rented by the four, by making a tunnel under their home. For that they hire the four supposedly for their TV serial and send them to learn various skills like martial arts, rock climbing, tree climbing, break dance etc. to keep them away from the house during the day time while the excavation is going on under the supervision of another gang member Bruno (Kunchan). But the Police officer played by Jagadish is tracking their activities. In the end their vicious scheme is busted up by the police officer, assisted by our four heroes who wake up to the reality at last, and the bank robbers end up in police custody leading to a merry ending.
