S7 Notifications Not Working
Problem:My notification reminders will not work on my text messages, voicemail, or Outlook (I only want those three). I have gone through the phone over and over, setting and unsetting the reminders in Accessibility to no avail. I have all the sounds set and get the initial notification, but no reminders. I was on the phone with Verizon for over an hour walking through all this again. The rep was at a loss. Please help. I really need those reminders as I am away from my phone quite often.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the notification settings in your phone are properly set. To do this follow the steps listed below.
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to reveal the Notification Shade.
- Tap on the Settings button in the top right corner
- Tap on the Sounds and Vibration
- Tap on Notification Sounds.
- From here you can change notification sounds
- To change the sound of your device notifications tap on default notification sound.
- Tap on the name of a sound to preview and select it.
- Tap the back key to exit
You will also need to make sure that the notification sound volume of the phone is set to its maximum level. You can do this by pressing on the volume up key.
In case you are still not getting any sound then you should try starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Can’t Open File Because It Is Corrupted
Problem:Each time I try to open a file I get an error message that reads “We can’t open this file- We can’t show the file because it’s corrupted.” I have wiped the cache. I get this message from multiple sites. How do I fix this?
Solution: What type of file are you trying to open? The app needed to open the file will depend on the file type. So, to troubleshoot this issue there are two things to consider. First, the problem could be caused by the app. Second, the problem could be caused by the file itself.
Try using a different app to open the file. You can download another app from the Google Play Store.
You should also try to copy the app to your computer then check if the computer can open the file. If it can’t be opened then the file is most likely corrupted already.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S7 Cannot Receive Bluetooth Files
Problem:I can send files with bluetooth, but I cannot receive them. This issue came after updated few apps and it’s still on despite that I’ve upgraded the OS to Nougat. I’ve also wiped the system cache. I try to avoid the factory reset option as I’ve spent a lot of time personalising the phone. Would you please give a solution? Thank
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to unpair the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the device that is sending the file. Once this is done pair with the device again. You will need to scan for the device again if it does not appear. Let the other device send a file and receive it in your phone. To check if the file has been received go to the Bluetooth settings then tap on More options then received file.Follow the prompts that appears on the screen.
In case the issue still occurs then start your phone in Safe Mode. Check if the phone is able to receive Bluetooth files in this mode. If the issue does not occur then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S7 Unable To Set Up Account A Security Connection Error Has Occurred Error
Problem: Email stopped working a few days ago. Checked server settings (all correct) and when “Checking incoming server settings” I get error message “Unable to set up account. A security connection error has occurred”. Why did this happen & how can I correct? I have a verizon.net email account & can still access emails via yahoo. com
Solution: Try accessing the email from when the phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network or by using your mobile data subscription. This way you can check if the problem is caused by the connection.
In case the issue occurs then you need to delete your email account from the email app then set it up again.
- Tap Email
- On the next screen, tap Add New Account.
- Type in your email address and password.
- Tap MANUAL SETUP to proceed with manual account setup. Or, if you want your phone to complete the setup process by automatically searching for your email server settings, tap SIGN IN.
- Select MANUAL SETUP to proceed with this guide.
- Tap to select the type of email account you want to set up. You may choose any from POP3 account, IMAP account, and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Enter the required server settings for your email account.
- Tap SIGN IN to continue.
- Wait for your device to verify if the server settings you enter are all correct. If your device successfully connects to the server using the settings you entered, you will be prompted with the Sync schedule screen.
- Configure sync options according to your preference.
- Tap SIGN IN.
- Enter a name for the account. If you want to create a signature to all your outgoing messages, you can enter your name or any signature you want to indicate on the appropriate field.
- Tap DONE to complete the process. After that, you should see email messages populating your inbox.
S7 Cannot Send Emails
Problem: I am unable to send emails from my phone. I can receive them but when I send them they just stay in my outbox. Also if I delete an email or move it into a folder on the phone it does not do it in my actual email. So when I log into my email on the computer I have to delete and move it again. If I delete or move it on the computer then it updates on the phone.
Solution: The most likely reason why you are unable to send an email is because of a wrong outgoing server setting. Try to check if the setting that you are using is the correct one. You can check this from the Settings option if the email app.
As for your emails not being deleted from another device when you delete them on your phone this is due to the email protocol that the phone is using. Your phone is most likely using the IMAP protocol which is recommended so that you can still access your emails from other devices. If the phone is set to use the POP3 protocol then what will happen is that the new messages will be downloaded from the server to your phone then the email will be deleted from the server. This will make the new emails inaccessible by other devices.
